Subject:Blue and White Vase China?
Posted By: Tom Fri, Jul 25, 2014 IP: 199.59.106.195 Just wondering if this is Chinese and if it looks like a repro? Can't quite make out the mark. Everything is hand painted underglaze. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Posted By: Bill H Sun, Jul 27, 2014 That's an abortive stamped apocryphal mark of "Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi" (Made during the Qianlong Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty). The vase as a whole strikes me as a contemporary product of a porcelain-decorating factory somewhere in Southeast Asia, because there's been no attempt to add veins or other detailing to the scrolling leaves. There also are traces of white glaze on the foot, which I believe tends to happen more often than not when blanks are reglazed by novices at the decorating factories. |
