Japanese Meiji era quality bronze okimono of a rat holding a chesnut, signed 'Masatsune zo' ( made by Masatsune).

The mark reads "Made by Masatsune" (Masatsune Tsukuru - 政常造). This signature was used by Masatsune Kimura (1827-1890), a well known and prolific Japanese bronze sculptor.

Below is a link to one Christie's auction result. If you query Google using the name "Masatsune" and "Bronze" as keywords, you'll come up with other relevant information.

Best regards,

Bill H.

The Christie's link was apparently too long to pass muster with the forum uploader, so here it is again in a form that can be pasted into the browser window.
