Subject:Japanese vase inscription

Posted By: Carl Jackson Thu, Aug 07, 2014 Thanks for the response, I have been told elsewhere that some of the inscription refers to birds ( sparrows, cranes, peacocks various?) and sheep also made in great japan this was without seeing the vases. The vases are covered in panels actually showing sparrows cranes peacocks cockerels and deer. |

Posted By: Carl Jackson Fri, Aug 08, 2014 again thanks for your efforts, i am in the process of attempting to purchase this pair of vases that are quite large @ 30" tall, unfortunately in the light they were in it proved difficult to photograph the inscription hence the sketch, the seller was a little reluctant to let me photograph the vases so i was looking for a little help with the translation prior to purchase, my option to buy runs out tomorrow but will probably bite the bullet and go for them based on the quality alone. |
