To me the red colour looks a little bright/orange to be Ming red underglaze (which tended to look burgundy/raspberry)...Looks more like the colour of later enamel reds

That red is bothering me-Wucai red should sit on the surface--That looks very much like a red underglaze to me

Thanks for the information Adam. Yes, it is an under glaze red and leans more of an orange color.

Assuming it is not Ming Period, any thought about the dating of this piece?

I'd be cautious of adam's expertise if I were you.

This is a painfully obvious example of a modern fake. Note that the Wanli mark has been transfer printed on, though the colour has been allowed to run in some manner to conceal the fact. The shades of colours are all hopelessly wrong for Wanli.

Maybe "fake" is too harsh a term for something not really created to deceive.

Thanks for the additional information Jim. I appreciate the response. I have been doing more studying on Ming Period pieces and hope over time to learn.
