Posted By: Michael Wed, Aug 13, 2014 Your vase is the Satsuma type and it could be about 100 years old. |

Posted By: Mat Sat, Aug 16, 2014 Hi,this is not Satsuma, but 20th century Kutani porcelain with micro calligraphy. When I return from holiday, I will write more about it. |

Posted By: Strni Sun, Aug 17, 2014 Michael - Thank you very much for your advice. I have spent hours researching this vase and could not find a Satsuma vase exactly similar. Also, I could not find even a remotely similar mark on the internet. I will take some more pictures soon, I accept that the lighting did not exactly do the vase justice. |

Posted By: Mat Fri, Aug 29, 2014 Hi, now that I am back from holiday I can give you more information. The signature that is shown on your 2nd photo to the left of the calligraphy seems to me to be the one of Tamura Kinsei, a very well known Kutani Artist who specialised in micro calligraphy. Compare the signature in this link that shows a Kutani censer with his calligraphy: http://www.trocadero.com/stores/zentner/items/1169860/item1169860.html . |

Posted By: Francis Tue, Mar 31, 2015 I know this is an old post but I was wondering if you would be interested in selling this beautiful piece. This is indeed Kutani, with Saiji (micro calligraphy), most likely Showa era. I happen to collect these so please message me if there is an interest. Thanks! |
