Subject:Kutani? hand painted bowl
Posted By: Gail Sun, Aug 10, 2014 IP: 100.0.64.252 After some research, it appears this is Japanese Kutani. Any help in deciphering the characters would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

Posted By: Bill H Sun, Aug 10, 2014 The marking reads from the right across the top as "Taniguchi" (谷口), the name of the artist or studio, and then down as "Made in Kutani" (Kutani sei - 九谷製). The gbouvier.com website indicates this mark was in use circa the late Meiji-Showa period (Meiji ended 1912 & Showa began 1926) |
