Subject:Need help identifying item
Posted By: JDP Sat, Aug 16, 2014 IP: 184.18.58.219

Need help identifying item, the item is not signed by an artist or any manufacture. I would like to have an estimation of the age. I'm Looking for any information at all about this item, and was wondering if anyone could translate the meaning of the inscriptions. This item is approximately 10 inches in width by 15 inches in length and weighs approximately 15 pounds.
Thanks in advance, JDP

It is a modern representation of a tortoise shell used by the Shang dynasty for divination..The characters are in archaic script so few will be able to translate (No real reason to translate them anyway)...Probably in a hardstone... Interest value only

new. the characters are all variants of "shou", meaning "longevity". not sure if it is meant to imitate a turtle's shell or is a lid to something else.

It is not a lid, here is a picture of the bottom to give you a better idea.
