Subject:Identify artist and translate script
Posted By: Bernard Ridley Wed, Aug 20, 2014 IP: 82.24.136.150 This image is some sort of print on parchment of some description. It has A/P below it which I assume means 'artists proof' then some Oriental writing, which I have no idea about, followed by a signature which definitely ends in Hong. All the script is written in pencil. Can anyone shed any light on the writing and signature and any further information would be good. |

Posted By: rat Wed, Aug 20, 2014 This looks like it is supposed to be a rubbing (http://www.fieldmuseum.org/node/4986). The Chinese says that it is the second divinity depicted on a gate, at the door/entry, perhaps on a tomb lintel. |

Posted By: Bernard Ridley Fri, Aug 22, 2014 Yes sorry abit of a faux pas, although it's not upside down, it is actually the bottom of the piece where it is signed. To the person who suggested it may be a rubbing I suppose it is quite possible although the part where it says Hong definitely looks like some sort of signature. It is definitely not a print. Hopefully I have now published a full picture of the item below. Thanks for your contributions. |

Posted By: Super Fri, Aug 22, 2014 Thanks, but you did post your first picture three times, upside down, now you posted it on its right side down. The shoes worn by the door GOD should be on the bottom. |

Posted By: Super Tue, Aug 26, 2014 It was very strange, your pictures appear to be posted correctly in my iPhone and laptop but were upside down in my desktop. I have no idea why. Please accept my apology. |
