Subject:VOC Charger
Posted By: Georgi Fri, Aug 22, 2014 IP: 68.10.98.83

The piece was dirty as hell and even after cleaning it is still brownish.I have doubts that it is an authentic piece but would like to hear more opinions.
Thanks

This is the mark of the Dutch East India Company, the Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, 1602-1798. It is found on the reverse of much Dutch East Indies coinage during the period. Regards. Jim

I agree, the staining and craquelure are very contrived and although they have made attempts to copy a design, the whole thing lacks authenticity...Good study piece though

Made in replica of an old plate.Appears to not even be porcelain, but some sort of stoneware with a pseudo cracklure glaze. Most authentic plates also have blue enamel designs on the back rim.
