Subject:is this for an aquarium?

not sure what this little thing is... it sort of looks like a Christmas tree but it has an opening near the bottom and lots of holes. I am thinking it might be an aquarium ornament. It is stamped CHINA on the bottom and is 4 1/2" tall.

I'm thinking that on the basis of Necessity being the mother of Invention, a lot of exotic objects like this might have wound up keeping the traditional tiny diver and his aerator bubbles company on the bottom of many an aquarium, whether made originally to go there or not. A lot of those items made to be with the fishes seemed to have swim-through spaces, whereas this one doesn't appear to. Rather the opening on the bottom floor could have been designed to hold a burning incense pellet while remaining high and dry.

Best regards,

Bill H.
