Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Tue, Sep 09, 2014 to the writing: May you have a safe journey ,or..you will have good fortune with your new job...all in the positive direction. It seems to be a quite translucent Jadeite and modern carving. |

Posted By: Billy Wed, Sep 10, 2014 Thank You Ernest, yes this helps. It for sure is not plastic, Jadeite seems right. |

Posted By: Super Sun, Sep 14, 2014 Of course I cannot rule out of it being jadeite but it is a really big piece and looks like a commercial piece that was being mass produced. It is unlikely that it was made of jadeite because such a large piece of jadeite has become very difficult to locate. It is also almost too translucent and if it can pass the scratch test, may be some types of quartz? |

Posted By: Billy Thu, Sep 11, 2014 How do I do a scratch test ? |
Subject:Re: White Jade Piece
Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Thu, Sep 11, 2014 Take a strong needle, and make a 2-3 mm scratch. Use enough pressure until you see a tiny white or black line, then let us know the result. |

Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Mon, Sep 15, 2014 ..sorry, in this case it is an indication that there is no Jade involved, but a softer stone... |
Subject:Re: White Jade Piece
Posted By: Super Mon, Sep 15, 2014 Not jadeite, white line indicates a soft stone just like I said. |

Posted By: meso Tue, Sep 16, 2014 fracture lines and colour banding indicates fluorite;in this case a very pale coloured specimen. |
