Subject:Chinese Teapot
Posted By: Mike Fri, Sep 12, 2014 IP: 162.119.128.145

i found this tea pot in a garage sale and it has a three character marking on the bottom, the porcelain looks old from the the way the cracks have formed...
Any help in understanding this would be great

This is a mark of "Made by Shimamura" (島村製 - Shimamura Sei). Here's a seller link showing some Nippon-style wares with the same mark and giving an age of "1900-1940", which would cover the late Meiji through mid-Showa periods if correct.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Hmm, what's that saying about the road to somewhere being paved with good intentions? Try, try again.
