Subject:Translate this Japanese writing
Posted By: Erin Mon, Sep 15, 2014 IP: 68.187.69.33

I found this on the bottom of a large heavy bronze dish, which is held up by 3 frogs on the bottom. Can someone translate the text stamped on the bottom of the bowl?

thank you!

Post pictures of the censer please, it makes the free information you otherwise will not find on your own worth our time to offer.

The characters seems to read 村田亀造, where the first two characters form Murada, a surname, the third is a simplified version of the character for turtle shown here and is meant as the artist's given name, and the last means "made by". Then again I am poor with Japanese names so take the above with a salt lick.

Thank you for your help! I have attached a photograph of the bottom of the censer. You can see the four frogs.
