Subject:Chinese coins/mother of pearl inlay black lacquer carving
Posted By: John Fri, Sep 26, 2014 IP: 76.106.212.108

I have identified the coins in this piece as being from the reign of Qian Long(1736-1795) but have found nothing resembling this particular piece of art. Although black lacquerware with mother of pearl inlay was widely used in this time it was mostly used for vases, boxes, furniture etc. Does anyone have any ideas? there is no signature. However there is a heavy patina which makes me think it may be as old as the coins inlaid in it.
