could you please tell me how to date a box made of lacquer when there are no makers marks that I can find. To me it looks old. Under a loop I can see layers of colors (red, gold, black). It looks like it is hand carved and only the top layer is polished to a gloss. there are some fine crackle marks inside the bowl and one small chip missing showing what looks like whitish/greenish wood beneath (possibly discolored by the varnish). I sell antiques on ebay and don't want to misrepresent the item which I have listed.
