Subject:Large Scroll Painting
Posted By: David A. Desautel Tue, Sep 30, 2014 IP: 64.146.180.188

I have this large scroll painting that I will be listing for sale, but I want to get as much information about it that I can first. It is a little over 6 feet tall and 29 inches wide. There is a lot of writing and backstamp-like symbols on it, even a strip on the back. I'm attaching some pictures.

Thanks,
Dave

This is a new scroll styled after Song era antecedents such as Mount Lu, attr Jing Hao in the NPM, Summer Palace of Li Longjin, attr to Guo Zhongshu in the Osaka Municipal museum, as well as more recent buildings in landscape pictures by Yuan Jiang and Yuan Yao. The inscriptions and seals are trying to give it some gravitas, but the seals will be imitations of imperial seals that undermine that goal.
