Subject:Re: Chinese Seal - can anyone work out the meaning or origin
Posted By: John Wed, Oct 01, 2014 Hello there I am by no means an expert or even able to read chinese but I have been studying alot of chinese seals lately and I believe this says "qianlong period make" if your rotate 90 degrees to the right. I have no clue what it says on the side but qian long reigned from 1736-1795 |

Posted By: rat Wed, Oct 01, 2014 confirming John's interpretation: the base reads "the years of Qianlong", the sides a some high-falutin' inscription in a seal script variant. this is a new seal though, no connection to the Qianlong reign |
