Subject:Re: Arita Yaki bowl with unknown seal(Ryu)

This and some other apparently transfer-decorated Arita-yaki wares I've seen seemed to date to the early 20th century. Thus, faced with a dearth of Ryu signatures on Japanese porcelain, I suspect the Ryu kiln that made this bowl possibly switched to military production during WW-II and afterward either merged with another manufacturer or didn't resume independent manufacture of tablewares. A change of name or logo wouldn't be out of the question either if the maker thought it might help end a streak of bad luck.
Best regards,
Bill H.
