Subject:Strange, yet awesome pot?
Posted By: Sherlock Mon, Oct 13, 2014 IP: 65.207.30.3 Found this guy at an estate sale. I find it fairly unusual and difficult to understand. I have tried to pen the small mark on the rim as I had a hard time photographing it. |

Posted By: rat Wed, Oct 15, 2014 looks like a nice Japanese vase to me, a 20th century variant of Satsuma ware? To attract attention from someone who knows Japanese art perhaps repost with subject something like: "Please help identify nicely drawn Japanese vase" Not sure of the reading of your character offhand. Try posting an image of it taken in shadow in order to get a better sense of the impression's contours. |

Posted By: Mike in Thailand Thu, Oct 16, 2014 Yes, this appears to be a very nice Satsuma piece. I would guess the base color is more cream, than white. If it is indeed white then it could be a Style of Kutani from the Taisho period. |
