Subject:need help to Identify this vase
Posted By: george Mon, Oct 13, 2014 IP: 75.10.226.1

I purchased this vase at a garage sale, but have not been able to learn much about it. How old is it? What kind of vase is it.

Thanks for your help

I forgot to add that the vase is 24 1/2 inches tall and about 35 inches round. The flowers, birds and tree branches are raised and glazed. The rest of the vase is flat (not glazed). The back and front pictures are the same but not identical. I believe it was hand decorated. The vase is more pinkish than pictured. Thanks for your help.

The manner in which the decoration is applied, using fields of tactile enamels in a cloisonné style, suggests this is a 3rd quarter, 20th century product of a kiln in the former South Vietnam.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thanks for the info, Bill H. I will hone my research in that area. I'm still baffled that I can't find another one like it anywhere. I also thought it was much older. Thanks again.

George,

Your vase looks like it might be a product of the Bien Hoa kilns near HCMC (Saigon).

wsus, Thanks so much! Your picture is the closest I have seen to my vase. I will do further research in that area. Thanks, again.
