Subject:Lidded Bowl w/ Red Wax Seal
Posted By: Brett Sat, Oct 18, 2014 IP: 69.119.200.71

I got this bowl at an estate sale. Was wondering if anyone could tell me the age and a little bit about this piece. I paid $10, I am not sure if I overpaid but it looks pretty old. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for looking.

This is a late 19th century seal paste box in the "Sweetpea Scroll" pattern with "Double Happiness" (Shuangxi) Characters. Its base has a partially blurred red wax seal that appears to be a late 20th century inspection mark of the Beijing No. 2 Cultural Relics Bureau.

Best regards,

Bill H.
