Subject:Ming jade bought for $33 at fleaBay worhts $1000!

See if I can upload a couple of photographs of the one I have later on. It was sold to me by a tibet based seller and is made in yellow jade pebble material that has altered to olive-brown on its surface, perhaps due to burial.

A year after my purchase a similar one was offered by canadian Joanies House Of Treasures, one of the most succesfull dealers of chinese antiques on ebay. It went for more than $1000:

Congratulations! You truly must have a discerning eye. Funny how those Tibetans can get hold of Ming jades so easily and are happy to sell them for a fraction of their true value. I would buy things from Joanie myself, but I have all my money invested in a company that promises to make pigs fly.

Holy freaking flying cow! That was some arrogant comment. But at least you made me lose interest in this thread, so I guess I'll save the time and trouble photographing and uploading my own jade disc. Not really worth further debate.

Subject:Ming Dynasty Jade? Rare?
Posted By: Jac Sun, Oct 26, 2014

The seller of the item said:

"I am told the pendant would date to the Ming dynasty period."

Is the item really Ming dynasty jade?

Their return policy mentioned "items are not returnable" three times in one paragraph.

Item is non returnable after purchase based on my interpretation of their return policy.

I have purchased a few wider 3.3 inches circular jade discs like the 2.5 inches item sold for more than USD 1K, recently, for less than less than SGD 100 each. I cannot be sure they are Ming dynasty jades.

-------------------------

Up for auction is a Very Fine Chinese Carved White and Black Jade Bi Disc Pendant. The pendant is very finely carved throughout being one of the nicest quality carved examples like this I have seen. I am told the pendant would date to the Ming dynasty period. The pendant has an interesting design that I have not seen before including a qilin dragon and a phoenix bird figure. The pendant shows some wear throughout and is possibly a burial piece, but is overall in fine original condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The pendant is carved of a beautiful white and black jade. The pendant display nicely measuring 2 1/2 inches wide, by 3/8’s of an inch thick. The pendant came from the estate displayed on this fine antique wood stand.
