Subject:Blue & White Kangxi Saucer Dish or Shallow Bowl
Posted By: Bill H Wed, Oct 29, 2014 IP: 98.71.197.175

I've found enough evidence online so far to support a conclusion that this 5.875 inch dish with a "Jade" mark is of the Kangxi period. Just wonder if anyone has seen this pattern in conjunction with any of the more precisely dated Kangxi-era salvaged cargoes. I have a couple of Vung Tau Cargo vases with similar floral motif but no "Elizas". This dish had an old typewritten label stuck to it when purchased saying circa 1700.

Much obliged,

Bill H.

Hi Bill, can you show an up-stand picture of this piece also? I agree that the motif, the color of the blue and the mark look like kangxi, but there were also likewise wares made after kangxi danasty. i.e. guangxu time, which sometimes hard to tell, need to see the fine details of the quality of the porcelain.

I'm traveling at the moment and unable to take or send additional pictures but will send other views ASAP after returning in about a week.

Many thanks,

Bill H.

Very new to all this, so cannot comment at all, but is that the same pattern as "Pair of Chinese blue and white saucers, Kangxi (16 Ref: TL120)" on this site: http://www.chinese-porcelain-art.com/acatalog/XXTL120.jpg? Perhaps that site might have more information on what you need?

Thanks, Ma, I believe those are identical. The seller, well known UK gallery Guest & Gray, further describe the dish as Kangxi period and: "decorated on the back with swirling foliage, diameter: 5 15/16in. 14.7cm." So seems to be a match. I've included one of the links below. Am still hoping to determine whether mine is pre-1700 or later.

Much obliged,

Bill H.
