Subject:belt with miniature paintings

This belt has 25 miniature paintings by the size 2.9x3.5cm. I am not sure of the material (ivory?). Any information about this piece (function, age, origin, manufacturer) is appreciated.

That is merely a guess,from my recollection of
bracelets with similar patterns that were attributed to Persia.

Probably not Chinese or Japanese, at any rate.

Thanks. I thought some faces look Mongolian but probably further to the West is more likely. There are short writings on top of the paintings. What language is it?
