Subject:Cinnabar covered bowl with Jianqing mark?
Posted By: James Sun, Nov 16, 2014 IP: 89.144.213.91

Greetings everyone. From the dirty patina and cracked inner surfaces, this piece appears to be quite old. However we all know what the contents of a vacuum cleaner bag can do,so i'm not sure. Also the mark is rather conspicuously large,so again I'm not sure. Finally the weight is 900g so I guess that's far too heavy for a genuine piece. At first glance I did think this was something rather nice, but I have a feeling I need a more critical eye(s) on the subject. Thanks in advance. james

Your suspicions are correct.

This is unfortunately a modern molded plastic fake.
There is a ton of this type of junk currently on eBay, and being hawked by scammer dealers on liveauctioneers.

Red flags are large reign marks, heavy, no real wear or damage showing internal core material, tons of irregularly oriented cracks in the black lacquer inside or on the bottom, inconsistent diaper patterns to the supposed period, etc.

Cheers
Doug
