Subject:Please help me identify this painting....
Posted By: David Ross Wed, Nov 26, 2014 IP: 75.142.118.79

My parents bought this water color many years ago, and likely paid a modest sum for it then. The piece is about 18 by 26 inches. Can anyone identify the Japanese writing and artist name? I'd like to know it's history and maybe what it might be worth today. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Painted by Du Twang, in 1955.

The four characters on the left could be
渝 州 怀 旧 "memory of Chongqing." 渝 is the abbreviation for Chongqing. The artist (next two characters) could be Shao Yi 紹 義 (probably a given name). There's a Deng Shaoyi listed, but googled pictures suggest two artists of that name with totally different styles. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses so far. Not sure what to make of them, since the two responses suggest two entirely different artists. But I appreciate the input...

"Du Twang" is spam.
