Subject:Chinese Jade #1 - Identification would be appreciated
Posted By: Col Davidson Sun, Nov 30, 2014 IP: 124.170.200.216

Hi All,
Attached are photos of an ancient jade carving of a dragon (?)
It was purchased in 1988 from an auction of top quality items and was originally collected in the 1930s.

It is light green in colour, oxidised and was describes as "possibly Han".
I would appreciate very much any information that the members can give.
All the best, Col

Sorry, that is not Han, it is a recent "carving".

Hi Ernest,
Thank you for your information.
If it does happen to be a copy it probably isn't too recent.
I purchased it in 1988 and it came from the Oscar Edwards collection which was collected in the 1930s and before. The other items in his collection were of very high quality, with many being quite rare. It is always possible that he collected a copy in error but it couldn't have been what I would consider as "recent".
All the best,
Col
