Subject:Identification appreciated for Thai (?) plaque.
Posted By: Col Davidson Sun, Nov 30, 2014 IP: 124.170.200.216

Hi All,
I have a lovely (to me) plaster Buddhist plaque made of a white plaster with a thin harder coating. It measures 225mm x 155mm x 25mm, appears to be VERY old and comes from an old collection. At top are four Buddhas, another one centre and a child (?) at bottom. Around the central figure are Thai (?) characters in circles. Some gold-leaf is still present.
I would appreciate any information that members can give me on my item.
All the best,
Col

It is Thai, and you would need to find a real Thai amulet pro to give you the specifics on this piece. It could be old and valuable, or just as easily, not so old and not valuable. There is so much of this in Thailand, but this piece is quite attractive.

The writing looks like Cambodian (Khmer) but it could also be Kom, which is an older language/script used in Thailand and Cambodia specifically for religious objects of this type.

Hope that helps a little.
