Subject:Chinese or Imari Porcelain Pair of Vases with Qianlong mark - unsure?
Posted By: Kattareeya Fri, Dec 05, 2014 IP: 110.77.220.174

Hi

I bought these two vases from an old Thai lady of Chinese ancestry who was clearing out her house.

They are extremely ornate and beautiful.

There is a similar mark on the base of each. Is anyone familiar as to the vases' origin and date?

They measure approximately 14 inches tall.

Thank you.

Kind regards

Kattchaa

Ornamental vases decorated in the Japanese style like these were produced in great numbers during the late 20th century and subsequently at painting factories in Macao, Hong Kong and elsewhere in China and Southeast Asia. Both of the apocryphal marks read "Made during the Qianlong Reigh" (Qianlong Nian Zhi).

Best regards,

Bill H.

Dear Bill

Thank you for your reply.

It is a little disappointing to learn these are apocryphal.

Would you be able to guess an edtimate of value?

Yours sincerely

Kattchaa

I don't follow the contemporary market in decorative porcelains, though you sometimes see such products on eBay. When they hit legitimate auctions, they often go unsold.

Good luck,

Bill H.
