Would appreciate very much any thoughts. Two of the characters look like the ink smeared?

Thank you.

The spotty Xuande Ming mark seems clearly to be applied by transfer, a clue that combines with the blurred characters to suggest strongly the mug is modern.

After looking at handled mugs jugs and cups in the Christie's archives, I also have the impression that this kind of handle might not have been used during the Ming Dynasty.

Best regards,

Bill H.
