Subject:Could anyone tell me about this?
Posted By: Jay Tue, Dec 09, 2014 IP: 68.35.247.153 I found this painting or print on the street several years ago with termite holes in the frame. I replaced the frame and have enjoyed having it around since then, but I don't know anything about its origins. It seems to be painted mostly in thin washes, except the whites, which are thicker (maybe it's a print with white applied by hand?). It's on paper with a gridlike texture, or maybe fabric affixed to paper. It's a little over three feet wide. Thanks in advance for any insights you may be able to provide. |
Subject:Persimmons & Japanese White Eyes
Posted By: beadiste Wed, Dec 10, 2014 Alas, I can't provide anything useful as to the artist, but it's certainly a nice piece of naturalistic painting. The persimmons and birds are immediately identifiable, the detail of the leaf holes and scars draws the eye in. |
