Subject:Re: Chinese Porcelain monk

The mark reads from right to left in Mandarin as "Zhu Yong Ji Zao" (朱永記造), translatable as "Made under the registered mark of Zhu Yong", with Zhu Yong apparently being a personal or factory name. Using Google, I found a couple of other citations of this mark, including at the link pasted below. Zhu Yong would appear to have been active during the early 20th century in the production of porcelain images of Chinese Luohans (Buddhist divinities of a stature just below Bodhisattvas or Mortal Buddhas). At the same time, there were a number of other ceramics modelers who used the name Zhu in various marks they applied to religious images made in their shops.
