Subject:Need Help Translating Inscription (Qianlong ?)
Posted By: Sam Thu, Dec 18, 2014 IP: 209.99.214.212

I would love to learn the translation of this inscription and artists seal. In very faint pencil on the back it reads something like "Chieu Way Chieu - Flowers", but it is almost illegible. Thank you in advance for your help.

Not sure what the penciled name is supposed to be, but the inscription is claiming that this is a painting by mid-Qing painter Qian Du (1764-1845), who painted in a more meticulous style, very often with color. Your "boneless" style picture is more similar to works by Ming painter Xu Wei.
