Subject:Japanese Vase - Hyozan?
Posted By: Joe Fri, Dec 19, 2014 IP: 24.44.45.107

This is a repost. Can anyone tell me if I am correct in say the Japanese Satsuma Vase has the "Hyozan" mark on the base? Any help with would be greatly appreciated in identify the mark and or age. Thank you in advance.
Joe

no, it seems to be three characters, not two:
善光山

I got a couple of Google hits on auction results for Satsuma ware probably having the same mark, rendered as "Zenkozan", but without the characters given. My best online dictionary indicated Zenkozan to be a surname. I've pasted both links herewith. One of them dates its item as Taisho Period (1912-26).

Rat,
Thank you for your help. I read it wrong. Would you be able to tell me anymore about the pieces. I orginally thought it was Hyozan with my lack of knowledge/beginner knowledge of Japanese Satsuma. I posted additional pictures if it may help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It reads (with a little help from rat) 'Zenkozan'.
Taisho period (1912-26).

Guy.
