Subject:about the inscription
Posted By: Jonas Wed, Dec 24, 2014 IP: 79.113.206.191

Hello,

I believe this is a woodblock print by Qi Baishi. Could someone tell me what the message/the inscription says. I am also wondering what means the symbol of the pine tree in the Chinese culture. Thank you very much !

It's a wish for long life and many children (sons, actually). The picture would have been given to someone as a birthday present. The pine is primarily a symbol of longevity in China, and suits the inscribed message here. Pines are also associated with enduring adversity.
