Posted By: mikeoz Sun, Jan 04, 2015 Ernest is right. A tea set. The lidded cup and saucer is called a Gaiwan, and is the vessel in which the tea is brewed. Using the lid as a strainer, the tea is poured into the smaller cups for the guests. The liquor is always drained off the tea leaves every time, which avoids the tea over-brewing, and allows the multiple use of the leaves for subsequent pourings. |
