Subject:Dutch East India Bottle VOC
Posted By: Adam Korytko Sat, Jan 03, 2015 IP: 10.77.92.200

Hi everyone. I need help, haha. We have a aquired a nice Japanese Sake bottle. I believe it to be from the Dutch East India Company. However I could not find any comparables. The bottle is 8-1/16" tall and 3" diameter at the base. Weighs in at 1 pound & 3.2 ounces. Has heavy overall crazing to the glaze. I believe it to be from the 17th-18th century, yet again I need help. Thanks in advance. Adam w/ pba

dear,

I am dutch and find it weird that your bottle has dutch writing on it about something japanese, what is written is japanese sake, in old a bit phonetic dutch ! but in my opinion the craquelure is not old, the bottom is too nice to be old, and the blue is not blue enough, off course do not have the piece in hand, probably made in indonesia ! but the wrting stays weird !
