HI all,

It's Japanese (rather) modern Kutani ware. Maybe around mid 20th. century. Right characters reads "Kutani"

Regards,

Arjan

The mark reads vertically from L to R 'Kutani' and 'Kinza' (probably the maker's name).

Guy.

'House of Happiness" - where did that come from.

This is a standard Kutani mark, with the name of the artist 'Gold Three" (I don't have my Japanese dictionaries with me).

And it's a lidded tea cup.

It appears to be a covered teacup with under-plate from here. Mark (九谷金三) reads "Kutani Kinzo(?)", with 金三 literally meaning "Gold Three". Todd, if you drinking something stronger than tea out of your "House of Happiness" cup, send me a bottle.

The transcription choices for 金三 are: Kinzo (かねみ), Kanemi (きんざ), Kinza (かねぞう】 and Kanezo. Kutani wares with this character mark are being sold new online.

Best regards,

Bill H.

The right stack reads Kutani, Nine Valleys, an area in Japan which is host to several hundred kilns. Regards, Jim
