Subject:Danqing Gonbi artist identification 2
Posted By: Lita Sun, Jan 11, 2015 IP: 108.20.3.172

Here's the 2nd painting I am seeking help with, by the same artist as the first one I posted.

The inscription on this one reads 丹青書於香港書舍 , which I am unable to make sense of in English. Best I can figure out is danqing written in Hong Kong. ??

There is also an additional seal, which also is on the other painting as well and I'd like help with this second seal as well, if possible.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you

As you may know, 丹青 "~red and ~blue" is synonymous for "painting" in Chinese, but here 丹青老人 is a name the artist has given himself, so the inscription would translate to something like "Painted by (Old Man) Danqing (at my) Hong Kong workshop". The large seal here reads as 大佛, "great Buddha".

Thank you so much for the time you have taken to assist me. It's greatly appreciated.

I love collecting paintings, and I like to know as much as possible about each work I acquire, most of them which I would know very little about without help from people like you.

Thank you.
