Subject:help dating and deciphering symbols/subject of art piece
Posted By: LAL Fri, Jan 16, 2015 IP: 47.16.127.2 Hello! Would appreciate any help dating and deciphering the symbols and subject matter of this art piece. It appears to have been part of a book or manuscript as it is trimmed in fabric on three sides and has several small holes on the right side. There is another set of symbols that I will upload in another message. Hope someone can help...THx!! |

Posted By: Stan Fri, Jan 16, 2015 It looks like a Japanese woodblock print by Kunisada (aka Toyokuni III) signing as Toyokuni. It will help to see the signature in the lower right. The holes along the edge means that it was bound in a book. Is the size about 10 x 15 inches? |
