Subject:Qianlong Fish Bowl?
Posted By: Helen Sat, Jan 17, 2015 IP: 2.221.223.96 Hi all, |
Subject:Re: Qianlong Fish Bowl?
Posted By: Bill H Sat, Jan 17, 2015 This bowl probably was new when purchased. Could have been decorated and bought in Macao or Hong Kong instead of Mainland China, which was experiencing instabilities due to the Great Leap Forward (1958 to 1961) and Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (1966-76). Since this item is transfer-decorated, whereas the French term "Famille Rose" is the "Pink Family" of colors in the porcelain-painter's palette, the term seems inapplicable to anything decorated by mechanical means like your bowl. |
