Subject:Qing, Repubulic bronze - 1st photo set
Posted By: Stew Sun, Jan 25, 2015 IP: 168.70.97.193

I am thinking of purchasing four bronzes from my neighbor whose parents collected in the 1960's. I am just beginning to research them so I can give a fair price. I have made some guesses as to the age but, I was hoping that this board can confirm or question my assumptions based on the photos in the next 3 threads. Also, I would be interested to know if these are worth buying. I will research further after that.

The first and favorite is a 20 cm high "lei" with taotie figures. Would this be a Qing 1800's item?

Hello,

I just had a quick look at your 4 items.

If they are worth buying is a matter of opinion.
Personally I like this one (# 1) and # 4.

According to the stage of corrosion, I believe this # 1 is a few hundred years old, Qing dynasty.

The others are from the Republic period.

Cheers

Thank you for your information. I will go for the 4th one at least. Here is a view of the taotie's.
