Posted By: Jack Hamner Fri, Feb 06, 2015 IP: 67.233.127.218 I bought this old bowl at a yard sale today. The owner says it was used to wash/soak the feet. It looks very old to me. Can you give me any help regarding age, use, and vaslue (if allowed). Thanks!

Posted By: Bill H Sat, Feb 07, 2015 Your foot-washing basin with apocryphal Qianlong reign mark looks like a late 20th century or subsequent product of one of the porcelain ornamentation factories in Macao or Hong Kong. The number of producers around China and the rest of Asia who make such transfer-decorated wares has increased since the start of this century.

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Feb 10, 2015 The ornamentation factories use Chinese porcelain blanks that have already been glazed and fired. I believe the transfer-decorating process involves reglazing and firing in most cases, which job can produce the kind of flaws you mention.
