Subject:Need help identifying this watercolor
Posted By: Anthony Sun, Feb 08, 2015 IP: 24.147.2.19

So, I was walking around a local flea market and stumbled upon this little watercolor that just really stood out to me. I know nothing about it, but I'm hoping that someone here could help identify the age, artist, and if it has any monetary value. Thanks in advance!

It is a Japanese woodblock print. I can't red the signature.

It is a Japanese woodblock print by Hiroshige. It is the Mariko Station from the Kichizo Edition of his "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido" series circa 1850. Here is one at the Boston MFA:

The condition is fairly poor and it is trimmed to the image. These factors reduce it's value to collectors. It is a chuban size with are less sought after (as opposed to oban size prints). I'd put it in the $50ish range at auction.

Cheers,
Stan
