Subject:Set of 3 Japanese Hanging Scrolls
Posted By: Fujin Fri, Feb 13, 2015 IP: 86.144.148.81

Hi!

I am just trying to do some ID's on some of my hanging scrolls, and I have hit a brick wall with these three.

They are a matching set of three, depicting crane birds and Jurojin. All three are signed with the same kanji and seal, which I think translate as follows -

一鎮 - 'Itchin'

一 鎮 - 'Ichi Mamoru' (with a space between the characters)

一 - 'Ichi Shizumi' (separately) ???

I think the red seal translates as -

書斎 - 'Shosai' ???

I have checked all of these combinations with Google, but I haven't come up with much, so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated!

There is also a wooden box that houses the three scrolls, with several kanji inscriptions on the lid and on the side, if anyone can read any of it, that would be much appreciated also!!

Kindest regards as always!
