Subject:Asian brass bronze vase with inscription

I have a great old vase. Made of brass or bronze? Not sure. It is a turned piece as you can see the tiny lines all thw way around the body. The band around the vase has a circle character. What does is mean or say? Then what looks like a bird and then an animal with ears. What could it be? And finally it has a long inscription engraved into the front of it. What does it say? What time period may this be? Thanks so much
