Subject:Do these Chinese Porcelain pieces look of Period to Mark? Please Help
Posted By: Abraham Gadley Tue, Feb 17, 2015 IP: 208.54.32.168

I was left a large collection of chinese porcelain among other things by my great grandmother. I think they are beautiful, but would like a better understanding to what I am holding. Please help if you can.

The mark posted is just one of a few in question

The link is to a DropBox folder with sub folders of some of the pieces in question. I thank you for your time.

Hi Abraham,

Sorry no... I guess all pieces are from 20th. century. The 4 character Qianlong mark f.i. wasn't used in this form (Da Qing Qianlong) before 1970.

Arjan

I salute you for your organizational skills and the effort you put into the photography and presentation, but unfortunately almost all of these are recently made decorative pieces. K (the small round covered saucer) seems to lack the imperial aspirations of the other pieces but could also be very recently made. It is meant as a seal paste container I think, but if unused is likely of contemporary make. The small cup M though seems ok and worth looking into further as a good vintage cup.

I'm no ceramics expert though, perhaps others will offer more specifics.

Hi all,

I took a look again at cup M. Single "China" markings could be an indication (following the laws) for a 1891/1918 dating but it was also used later on. Items with the rice-grain pattern and this specific decoration and single "China" marking were made around the period 1960-1970. I guess this cup is from that period.

Regards,

Arjan
