Subject:Translation of Makers Mark Please
Posted By: Ed Wed, Feb 18, 2015 IP: 100.8.145.233

I own two Chinease New Year Prints of Door Gods.
Both of them have the same reign mark within the Woodblock carving. The Woodblocks were made during the times of Hongwu & Yongle 1368-1424.
They were reproduced and hand colored later and I would appreciate if someone could translate the Makers Mark.

Your mark indicates that the print is sold by/in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing

Thank you Rat. I thought they were high end .

I got them at an Estate Sale a dozen years ago and always wondered.

I assume it does not say "when" the Museum made them ?

They are beautiful and truly a pleasure to look at.

Thanks again ...ED
