Subject:Japanese Satsuma Cup Artist, Seal & Translation Help Please!
Posted By: Joe Tue, Feb 24, 2015 IP: 24.44.45.107 I was wondering if anyone can help me with identifying the pictured cup and translation. It is very thin walled and hand painted. Is anyone also able to help with identifying the artist? Thank you in advance. Joe |

This is the mark of a well known Kutani porcelain producer, as opposed to Satsuma ware, which is a stoneware type. I'd estimate this cup by its decoration to date to around the late Meiji period or circa 1900. |
