Subject:Idenifying a Mark
Posted By: Lynda Sun, Mar 01, 2015 IP: 91.125.157.33

Hello,
I am new to this site, and thank you for the interesting information.

I have a twin vase that I think is modern, and wonder if you can tell me anything about the marks, ie where it was made etc.,

The mark in seal script says "Made by the Jinmen Porcelain Factory" (Standard characters 金門陶瓷廠製 - Jin-men Tao-ci Chang Zhi). This indeed is a contemporary mark and vase. Jinmen (also rendered as Kinmen and Quemoy) is an island near the coast of China controlled by Taiwan, and the kiln there is a government enterprise that was constructed in 1962.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Many thanks for your reply. I am so pleased to have the details of where it was made.

Thanks again.
